Connecting a Different Shopify Store: Use a New Brand

Updated by Michel from GRIN

If GRIN will not let you connect a different Shopify store, or will not let you switch the store on the Brand you already have, this is expected behavior rather than an error. A Brand in GRIN holds one Shopify store at a time.

Why the connect flow will not swap the store

Because a Brand holds a single store, the connect flow will not replace the store on a Brand that already has one connected. This is why the connect step asks you to pick a Brand first. A second Shopify store means a second Brand, and the new store then connects to that new Brand. You do not need to delete your existing Brand, and you do not need to start over.

Connecting an additional store

  1. Create the Brand that the new store will belong to, following creating your Brand.
  2. Start the Shopify connection from Account > App Marketplace, from Account > Account Settings > Integrations, or from the Brand itself under Step 3: Ecommerce Account. All three routes are described in integrating with Shopify.
  3. When prompted to choose a Brand, select the new Brand rather than the one that already has a store.
  4. Sign in to Shopify and approve the connection.

If the connection does not complete

  • Check that your Shopify user has the permissions needed to install apps, under Settings > Users & Permissions in Shopify.
  • Check that a pop-up blocker is not stopping the Shopify sign-in window or the redirect back to GRIN.
  • Once the store is connected, what it syncs and how it behaves is controlled in your Shopify connection settings.

Good to know

Each Brand keeps its own store connection, so stores stay separate across Brands and are not shared between them. If you are unsure which Brand a store is currently attached to, open the Brand and check its Ecommerce Account step before starting a new connection.
