Removing Creators: From an Activation vs From Your Contacts

Updated by Michel from GRIN

GRIN has two separate remove actions, and they do very different things. Removing a creator from an Activation keeps them in your account. Removing a creator from your Contacts takes them out of your account entirely. This article explains both, and clears up when a creator is actually notified.

Remove from an Activation (the creator stays in your account)

This takes a creator out of a specific Activation but keeps them in your Contacts. Go to Program > Activations > your Activation > the All Creators tab, which lists everyone in the Activation regardless of status. Hover over a creator and choose Remove from Activation, or select several with the checkboxes and use More Options > Remove from Activation. For more detail, see Managing All Creators in Your Activation.

Remove from your Contacts (the creator leaves your account)

This removes the creator from your roster in Contacts > Creators. Select the creators with their checkboxes and use the toolbar. We recommend Archive rather than Delete: archived creators can be restored later, but deleted contacts cannot be recovered. Delete is under More Options. For more detail, see Managing Creators.

When is a creator notified?

Adding a creator to an Activation does not notify them, and they will not see the Activation on their Live Site yet. The invite email only goes out when you activate them, at the Activate step, if you choose Invite to Join Campaign. If you activate manually instead, GRIN does not email a proposal, because you are completing it on their behalf. So a creator who is still not yet activated has not received an invite. For more detail, see Activating Creators in Your Activation.
