In order for your brand to view your Instagram content and pull in metrics, you need to authenticate your Instagram with an Instagram Professional account on the Live URL. You can check out our help article Connecting Your Instagram for more information.

However, if the authentication process is incomplete, you may see a Connection Incomplete warning next to your Instagram network like below.

This can happen if you don't finish authenticating, don't accept all permissions when authenticating, or if your Instagram Professional account is not properly linked with a Facebook page. If you see this status, follow the guide below to complete your connection.

Note
Keep in mind that in order to successfully connect, Facebook requires that your Instagram Professional account is connected to a Facebook Business page and not just your personal Facebook. If you do not have a Facebook Business page, then check out Meta's help article Set Up Your Facebook Business Page.

Checking an Incomplete Connection

You can check if your Instagram connection is incomplete and some possible fixes with the following steps.

  1. Navigate to your Live URL > Networks tab.
  2. Press Connect next to the network with an incomplete connection.

  1. Review the possible problems displayed. Once you're ready to finish your connection, press Try Again.

You can learn how to resolve some of the possible problems with your connection with the next sections.

Confirm your Facebook Page and Instagram Are Connected

  1. Log in to Facebook.
  2. Ensure you are on your Facebook Business page and not your personal page. You can do this by tapping on your profile menu in the bottom right. From this screen, all of your associated Facebook pages are displayed.
  3. Tap on the icon with your Business Page's icon, then tap on the profile menu again. Scroll to Settings & Privacy, open the menu, and select Settings.
  4. Tap on Linked accounts.
  5. Tap on Instagram. If not already linked, be sure to sign in by selecting Connect Account.

For further information and help on connecting your Facebook Business Page and Instagram, view Meta's help document for Add or Remove an Instagram Account From Your Facebook Page. You can also verify your Facebook and Instagram status in Meta's Business Center.

Verify You Are Your Facebook Page's Admin

If you still could not connect your Instagram to your Facebook Page, you may not have the appropriate permissions. In order to properly connect your Instagram account to GRIN, you must be an admin for the Facebook page your Instagram is connected with. Next, confirm that you're an admin on your Facebook Page.

  1. Log in to Facebook.
  2. Ensure you are on your Facebook Business page, and not your personal page. You can do this by tapping on your profile menu in the bottom right. From this screen all of your associated Facebook pages are displayed.
  3. Tap on the icon with your Business Page's icon, then tap on the profile menu again. Scroll to Settings & Privacy, open the menu, and select Settings.
  4. Tap Page Settings, then locate and tap on Page access. If you aren't an Admin, press the Edit button to update your role. If you don't have permission to do so, the user with an Admin role will have to update your role for you.

You can learn more about Facebook Page roles at Meta's page to Manage roles for your Facebook Page.

Enable all permissions when connecting to GRIN

During the connection process in GRIN, you will be directed to Facebook. Once logged in, you will be asked to select your Instagram Professional account, Facebook Business Page, and several permissions. To complete the connection properly, all the permissions need to be enabled. Omitting any of these will cause a failed connection.

  1. Navigate to your Live URL that was provided to you by your brand.
  2. Tap Networks.
  3. Press Connect next to Instagram.
  4. Enter your Instagram Professional account's handle.

  1. Press Continue. GRIN will confirm your Instagram account is either a Business or Creator account.
  2. If your account is a Professional account, you'll get a success message. Press Connect. If you're not logged into Facebook already, log in.
Note
If you do not get a success message here, this means your Instagram account is not a Professional type account. You will need to change your Instagram account into a Professional account. For more information on Professional accounts, check out Instagram's help article About Professional Accounts.
  1. Press Continue as... and select your Instagram Professional account.
  2. Select your Facebook Business Page and Press Next.
  3. Ensure all the permissions in What is GRIN allowed to do? are enabled. For more information on these permissions, see our Social Networks FAQ.

  1. Press Done and OK. This will complete your connection between your Instagram and Facebook accounts, and should connect you to GRIN with full permissions.

Remove GRIN from your Facebook Business Integrations

If you're still not able to connect after go through the prior steps, then remove GRIN from your Facebook business integrations. This will reset the connection process, and once done, you can try to connect your Instagram account again.

  1. Log in to Facebook.
  2. Tap on your Profile menu.
  3. Scroll to Settings & Privacy, open the section, and tap on the Settings button.
  4. Under Security, tap Business Integrations.
  5. Select GRIN.
  6. At the bottom of the page, press Remove.
