If a creator's post or reel isn't showing where you expect in GRIN, it is usually one of a few common, easily fixed reasons. In most cases the content is being tracked, it is just attributed somewhere other than where you are looking, or it was posted before tracking began. This guide walks through the most common causes and how to check each one.
Quick checklist
Before anything else, confirm these four things:
Which creator and which specific post (have the post link handy).
Roughly when the post went live.
Which activation you expect it under.
Whether that activation was tracking, with the correct tags, at the time the post went live.
1. You may be looking at the wrong activation
A creator's post is attributed to a single activation. If a creator is in more than one activation and the post matches the tracking tags on several of them, GRIN attributes the post to the most recently created matching activation. The same post will not also appear under an older activation.
What to do: if the creator is in multiple activations, check the most recently created one. That is usually where the content is.
2. Tracking may have started after the post was published
GRIN tracks content from the point tracking is turned on for an activation. Posts published before tracking began (or before the activation existed) are not captured retroactively and cannot be back-filled later.
What to do: compare the post's publish date to when the activation and its tracking tags were set up. If the post predates tracking, that is expected. Content posted after tracking is enabled will track normally.
3. The post may not include the tracked hashtag or mention
GRIN attributes posts that carry the activation's tracking hashtag or mention. If a post does not include the exact tag or mention (or has a typo, or tags the wrong handle), it will not be attributed to the activation.
What to do: open the post and confirm it contains the exact hashtag or @mention the activation is tracking.
4. Content tracking may not be fully turned on
It is possible to have tags set to show on the Live URL while content tracking itself is not enabled. If tracking is not on, tagged posts will not be attributed even though the tags are present.
What to do: in the activation, confirm content tracking is enabled and the tracking tags are active, not just displayed.
5. The creator's account may not be fully connected
Fully connected (authenticated) creator accounts allow GRIN to pull the most content. If a creator's account is only partially connected, some content, especially reels and stories, may not be captured.
What to do: check the creator's connection status on their profile and have them complete or refresh the connection if needed.
6. Some content types have platform limits
Instagram Stories are only available for 24 hours. If a story is not captured while it is live, the platform no longer provides it and it cannot be retrieved afterward.
Reels and collaboration (collab) posts can appear differently in reporting than standard feed posts.
What to do: for stories, ask creators to submit story insights through their Live URL so verified metrics are captured before they expire.
7. It may be the report view or filters
Sometimes the content is tracked but the report is filtered so it does not appear.
What to do: check the date range, and whether you are viewing the campaign-level or activation-level report. Widen the date range to include the post's publish date and confirm you are in the right report.
Still not seeing it?
If you have checked the above and a recent, correctly tagged post from a fully connected creator still is not showing in the correct, most recently created activation, reply to this conversation with the creator's profile link, the exact post link, the date it was published, and the activation you expect it under, and our team will investigate the specific post for you.
