Setting Up Payouts

How to connect your bank account and submit your tax form so brands can pay you through GRIN.

Overview

To receive payments from brands through GRIN, you need two things:

  • A payout method — your bank account connected via Bank Transfer (ACH/Wire)

  • A valid tax form — a W-9 (U.S. residents) or W-8BEN (non-U.S. residents)

If you don't complete both steps, any payments your brand sends to you through GRIN will be refunded within 30 days. Be sure to set up your payout information as soon as possible so you can start receiving payments for your collaborations.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

A verified GRIN Live Site account. To learn more, see Verifying your account.

Your bank account details, including your IBAN or account/routing number and the name of the account holder exactly as it appears on your bank statement.

Your taxpayer identification number (TIN), Social Security Number (SSN), or Foreign Tax Identification Number (FTIN).

The Payouts page before any payout method has been added.

Step 1 — Add Your General Information

Your General Information tells GRIN who you are and where you are located. This is required before you can add a payout method.

1

Navigate to your Live Site

Open your GRIN Live Site link and log in to your account.

2

Go to Payouts

In your account menu, select Payouts.

3

Add General Information

In the General Information section, select + Add General Information.

4

Fill in your details

Enter your full legal name (or your business's legal name), email address, and mailing address. Then select Next.

Note

The name you enter here must match the name on your bank account and tax documents. Providing a mismatched name may cause payments to be returned or delayed.

Step 2 — Add a Payout Method (Bank Transfer)

GRIN pays creators via Bank Transfer. You will need to provide your bank account details so funds can be sent directly to your account.

1

Select + Add Payout Method

On the Payouts page, select + Add Payout Method.

2

Select Bank Transfer

Choose Bank Transfer as your payout method and select it to continue.

General Information confirmed and Bank Transfer selected as the payout method.

3

Choose your bank account currency

From the Bank Account Currency dropdown, select the currency your bank account is held in. If you are receiving USD payments, select US Dollar (USD).

4

Enter your IBAN

Enter your IBAN (International Bank Account Number). This is typically shown on your bank statement or within your online banking portal.

5

Enter the name of account holder

Enter the full name of the account holder exactly as it appears on your bank statement. For businesses, use the full legal business name.

6

Select Add

Review your details and select Add to save your payout method.

Important — please read before submitting:

The Government/Tax ID number you provide must match the named bank account holder.

Provide your full name (or business legal name) as it appears on the bank account. Failure to do so may result in a returned or delayed payment.

Ensure the account currency matches your selection. For example, if you select US Dollar (USD), your bank account must be a USD-denominated account. Payments sent to a mismatched account will likely be returned by your bank.

Step 3 — Submit a Tax Form

If your brand is paying you through GRIN, you are also required to submit a tax form. GRIN supports two tax forms depending on your residency:

  • W-9 — for U.S. residents

  • W-8BEN — for non-U.S. residents

Once your payout method has been added, the option to submit a tax form will appear on your Payouts page.

U.S. Residents — W-9

Follow these steps if you file taxes in the United States.

1

Select Submit a Tax Form

On the Payouts page, select Submit a Tax Form.

2

Select I am a U.S. Person

Choose I am a U.S. Person and select Continue.

3

Fill in your Personal Information

Enter your name, address, and other personal details as requested.

4

Select a Federal Tax Classification

In Part II, choose the classification that applies to you (e.g., Individual/sole proprietor, LLC, Corporation).

5

Enter your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)

This is typically your Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN).

6

Submit your form

Review all fields and submit your W-9.

About W-9 validity

A W-9 is considered valid if your name, address, and TIN match what is on file with the IRS. If any information is incorrect, GRIN will notify you by email. You will have 30 days to correct the information, otherwise you may be subject to backup withholding on your earnings.

Non-U.S. Residents — W-8BEN

Follow these steps if you file taxes outside of the United States.

1

Select Submit a Tax Form

On the Payouts page, select Submit a Tax Form.

2

Select your residency type

Choose I am not a U.S. Person and I am an individual, or I am a Corporation, depending on your situation. Then select Continue

3

Certify your status

Select the checkbox to confirm you are not a U.S. person, then indicate whether you provide services exclusively from outside the United States or from within the United States.

4

Enter your full name to certify

Type your full name to certify the information you provided, then select Certify.

5

Fill in the W-8BEN Substitute Form

Complete all fields in the W-8BEN form and select Continue.

About W-8BEN validity

A W-8BEN is considered valid if your name, address, and tax identification number match your country's tax agency records. If the information comes back as incorrect, GRIN will notify you by email. You will have 30 days to correct the information, otherwise you may be subject to backup withholdings on your earnings.

You're All Set!

Once your General Information, Bank Transfer payout method, and tax form have all been submitted, your Payouts page will show your bank account listed as Active and your tax form marked as Reviewed.

Any tax withholdings selected in your tax forms will be documented in your payment emails going forward. You are now ready to receive payouts from the brands you collaborate with.

Managing Your Payout Method

You can update or remove your bank account details at any time from your Payouts page.

Editing your bank account

  • Navigate to your Live Site and select Payouts.

  • In the Payout Methods section, select the pencil (Edit) icon next to your bank account.

  • Update the relevant fields and save your changes.

Adding an additional payout method

  • Navigate to your Live Site and select Payouts.

  • Select + Add Payout Method and follow the setup steps above.

Removing a payout method

  • Navigate to your Live Site and select Payouts.

  • In the Payout Methods section, select the trash (Delete) icon next to the bank account you want to remove.

Note

If you remove your only active payout method, any new payments from your brand will not be processed until you add a new one. Payments may be refunded to your brand after 30 days if no payout method is active on your account.

Troubleshooting

My payment was returned:

Payments may be returned if the bank account currency does not match the currency selected during setup, or if the account holder name does not exactly match your bank records. Verify your bank details and re-add your payout method if needed.

My tax form is showing as invalid:

GRIN will send you an email notification if your tax form fails validation. You will have 30 days from the date of that email to correct and resubmit your information. If you do not resubmit in time, you may be subject to backup withholding on your payments.

I don't see the option to submit a tax form:

You must add a payout method before the tax form option becomes available. Complete Step 2 first and then return to the Payouts page to submit your tax form.
